Our story
Inspired by heritage, crafted in Kigali, designed for timeless elegance.
FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION
Kigali Kaftan started with a simple observation. Founders Jack Ndahiro and Rene Ishimwe, travelling across West and East Africa, kept seeing the same thing: people who looked undeniably themselves. Not in Western corporate suits, but in rich prints, tailored cuts, and silhouettes that said something. Back in Kigali, that feeling was harder to find.
So they built it. Drawing from the elegance of West African design and the visual language of East African culture, they created a space where a client could walk in with a vision and walk out wearing it. Every piece begins with an idea and ends with intention; crafted for the person wearing it, not just sized for them.
That is still the standard today.
OUR VISION
Kigali Kaftan was never meant to stay in one place. The goal from the beginning was to build something cross-continental, something that honored where it came from while reaching far beyond it. We design for the person who moves through the world with quiet confidence, who wants to wear something that was made with care and sourced with purpose. From Kigali to wherever you are, that vision has not changed.
OUR ONGOING COMMITMENT
Every collection goes through the same process. We source cotton from wherever the right weight, color, and feel lives. East Africa. Asia. Wherever quality leads, we follow. Not every fabric makes the cut, and that is the point. We bring that same standard to every silhouette, every pattern, every stitch because the everyday person deserves something built for them. That commitment is not a promise we made once. It is how we work.
Our Journey Continues
Kigali Kaftan is more than a fashion brand—it is an evolving expression of culture, craftsmanship, and confidence. As we continue to grow, our commitment remains the same: to honor heritage, embrace innovation, and create timeless pieces designed in Kigali and worn with pride.
